“Protect Your Heart”

That’s the counsel I was given this morning after emailing a dear friend in tears.

(I was the one in tears, not my friend.)

(I’m assuming.)

(Still, what a buzz kill for her this morning!)

That’s what I get, though, for watching hidden videos taken at abortion clinics. That’s what I get for clicking through on those links. My tears fell onto the 4-month-old in my arms and I wondered, what have we come to in this once great country?

Enough. I’m guarding my heart as per the advice of my friend who, coincidentally, I met through blogging. I’m looking away from Facebook and toward my prayer book, wherein (through my tears) I read these words this morning:
“My child, people are frequently faced with choices in their earthly life. Choices big or small, important or unimportant, are being made every day by everyone. When one chooses one thing, he usually gives up something else. You cannot have everything which you desire. At times you will have to choose some things in preference to others.”
I have to step away from all the abortion coverage. I need to choose things that will keep my peace, like...

Sweat Band Boy I

...hanging out with a kid in his sister’s headband. He looks like that guy from Juno, don’tcha think?

(the pint-sized “Mayonnaise Edition”)

He looks a lot like the guy in Juno, which, coincidentally, is a very Pro-Life film. Have you seen it? The fact is, we live in a country where abortion is neither as safe nor as rare as our president would hope.

Sweat Band Boy II

It is, to his “credit”, legal.

  1. I've had to do the same thing, Margaret. The headlines alone have put me in a tailspin and so I have decided to keep praying but step away from the articles and coverage for a bit.

    What a cutie pie!

I'm glad you are focusing on the good, the beautiful, and the young in your care...I just wish I could get my husband to quit reading all of the same stuff you did....
I tell him, "just pray for all the treacherous evil---you don't have to WATCH it or listen to it...please!"

    Sincerely,
    Donna L.

  3. I am so with you! Having lost one of my own babies (through miscarriage) and now pregnant with another (praise GOD!) I simply can't wrap my mind around this stuff. I am truly horrified. Thank you for the reminder that it is ok to step away from the news, and just focus on my babies and my husband right now.

  4. God works in wonderous ways....that quote from your prayer book this morning was obviously very timely for you...and I'm glad you shared it. It was timely for me for other reasons...thank you.

  5. It sounds like you have a very wise friend. Or one who simply understands exactly what you are going through. And I'd bet she's always happy to see your name in her inbox.

  6. I so agree with you! I can't look at all that stuff and read all the articles. I don't have to to know that it's going on, and I need to keep working on my own mission here at home. Getting sucked into misery and despair is not God's will for me!

  7. Great...now I want to watch Juno again.

And I totally agree with you. I haven't even been keeping up with what our president has been saying about all this because quite frankly, it sickens me. It sickens me to think that anyone can just 'get rid of' their child without even a second thought. That thousands upon thousands just see it as a form of birth control.

On the flip side of all that though, I see Planned Parenthood clinic workers leaving the evil giant realizing that what they were doing was assisting in the murder of innocent children.

There is hope out there - there are small steps towards human dignity. Unfortunately right now, they get drowned out by all the evil and corrupt.

  8. First of all, the pictures cracked me up! Reminded me of when Big Brother used to seize every opportunity to put Daddy's shoes on Little Brother--as soon as I put him in his baby car seat.

Second, I live right near Philadelphia, and it has been wall-to-wall Gosnell lately. I cannot--CAN NOT--click through to look at pictures or videos. The words are bad enough.

And I must take issue with what you said about "legal." What that doctor was doing for decades--nothing legal about it. "Safe, legal and rare" has not eliminated those back-alley facilities.

My prayer today (and I hope it is all of yours as well) is that I will be guided to do something, big or small, that will contribute toward a culture of life.

  9. Oh Margaret, I am pregnant and completely agree. My husband sees me in tears so often and turns off FOX telling me it is for my own good.
I just had to comment though as your little guy is so funny!!! That headband, and sitting on top of the mayo jar - just absolutely too cute. He is definitely something that I could focus on.

Quite frankly, I would LOVE it if you left a comment. Sending me coffee & chocolate works too.
