Another “Birth” Story

Welcoming our new baby Catholic!

Nicholas was baptized on Epiphany Sunday.

Baptism XI

I like to think that at the same time the Wise Men found the Christ Child...
Free at last!
...our infant son found his lungs.

I really don’t know what was up with that. I fed the little bugger all through the Mass!

Baptism III

Here are the godparents, Michael and Tina.

Baptism I
We chose them despite the fact that Tina’s a Packers fan whose team beat the snot out of the Vikings last week.

(This makes us magnanimous.)

Moving on.

Baptism IV

When it comes to a baptism, this is always my favorite “action” shot.

Baptism VIII
I call it “Original sin has left the building.”

Other people enjoy seeing the gown, so here are a couple photos for them.

Baptismal Gown IV

Baptismal Gown III

This gown was made by George’s godmother.

Baptismal Gown II

She, by the way, roots for the Vikings.

Not that it matters to anyone but my teenaged son.

(Really!)

Baptism XII

So there you go and here we are. I’m the one wearing the hard-to-spot fuchsia. Nick’s the one with the sin-free soul.

  1. Oh my goodness, welcome to the greatest Church on Earth Nicholas! And your family looks awesome, did you get to reuse the Christmas outfits? I would have planned it like that if I could have ;)

    1. Did you say the word "plan," Colleen? Ha ha ha ha! You're teasing me, right?

(Yes, those are the Christmas dresses--and the boys are wearing their "Advent" ties. :)

  6. Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful! And I think you picked the best possible Godparents ever. Catholic, holy, AND Packer fans. What an awesome combination!! I am a die-hard Packers fan (could you tell...hee, hee) and even we were only able to get 2 out of the 3 with our Godparent selection for Elizabeth - Catholic and Holy. Her Godparents root for the dreaded Vikings...

  7. Oh, and I love Fr. J - he is wonderful! Although he did give my at the time fiancee a bit of grief about not getting married in the Cathedral when he was the Pastor. I belonged to the Cathedral at that time and my now husband belonged to a small church on the far west side (where he grew up and close to where we now live). But I told Fr. J it was my choice, as beautiful as the Cathedral was I thought it would be neat to get married in the church where we were going to be members and where my husband had received all his sacraments up until that point. He didn't buy it! But one of my brother-in-laws got married at the Cathedral the next year, so I think it evened out in his eyes! :)

  10. He is a gorgeous babe in that gown. Goes with the great looking family.

Looking at my own 17yr old son...how did you get your boy to wear a pink tie??!!
You look great by the way.

  11. That gown is amazing! So happy that you had your boy wear it. Seems like more and more boys are being baptized in white jumper-type outfits. Our kids all wore the same gown worn by their dad...so cool that they were all welcomed into God's family wearing the same thing!
